The Intellectual Property Ventures Group identifies, develops and commercialises intellectual property to realise associated capital gains. The one operating business unit in this group, ILID (pronounced eye-lid), www.ilid.com.au, is involved in the commercialisation of its globally patented Visible Light Technology™ (VLT™) for shelf labelling in the retail industry.
The IP Ventures group also makes equity investments in other companies developing new technologies. Previously, various other investments were made in convertible notes that contributed interest income.

ILID - Electronic Shelf Label Solutions
ILID, manufactures Electronic Shelf Label (ESL) solutions which enable real-time wireless updating of shelf-edge information, specializing in Grocery, Hardware, Liquor and Pharmacy applications. Using patented Visible Light Technology (VLT™), data such as pricing, marketing and promotional updates are sent directly to the shelf edge via a stores lighting. Since 2003, through increased Sales and Marketing initiatives, major growth has been achieved with over 1 million labels installed worldwide. ILID holds 100% ESL market share in Australia and the UK and is in use globally across 10 countries.
